Dare 2 Share
I hope that all of you teens and parents of teens are ready for GameDay! This isn’t a new TV show or Video game. It’s an important training event available for the teens of this church! Last year students attended the first installment in the Dare2Share conference called, “Revolution”, this year’s theme, is “GameDay”. Every day our teens are in a game that is really no game at all. It’s a battle… It’s a fight… It’s a race… for their souls and the souls of their friends.
I’ve spent my whole life in the church. I spent many years learning about the Bible, but rarely was I given opportunities to share what I knew with people who didn’t have a saving relationship with Jesus Christ. Even if I had been given the opportunity I didn’t have training to do so. It wasn’t until late college that I was given an opportunity to give a Bible study to a friend with a Hindu background. I had all the cards in my favor; I spent 16 years in Adventist Education and was given plenty of good knowledge, but no training on how to share that knowledge!
I want the teens of the Minnetonka Church to have a different story. That’s why I’m so excited about Dare 2 Share. It gives students the training in a fun and relevant way so that they can be charged up to share all the things we have been teaching them about Jesus with “lost” people. In one day of intense training the students last year got excited about sharing their faith with people who have no relationship with Jesus at all. Where we dropped the ball was in follow- through. This year I hope to do that differently as well. Our theme in Sabbath School over the summer was to create students of influence who in turn can be a positive Christ-like influence in their communities. The Dare 2 Share conference will continue and aid in that education.
