Worship Summit Meeting Notes :: Worship Team

Timing of service is too long (short) timing and flow sheet will be used
  Songs limited to 15 minutes.
  End of service by 12:45
Music groups are too varied in quality Intentional training and discipling of music groups
As of late, not enough music groups. Benji is working to recruit more groups.
Too much commotion from group practice  10:30-11:30 can not be used as rehearsal time – only sound check.
Members of the music group are late must be on time!
Enthusiasm is low Since music is the first way people are led into worship, the leader must be direct and meaningful
Music selection Needs to be balanced with new and old.
Incorporate hymns into second service sometimes.
Ensure songs are not too high or low.
  Look for good/popular songs
Involvement of Children find simple ways to involve the young
Special Music put as offertory instead of separate item
Try to utilize for both services
Congregational Logistics first service: print in bulletin when to sit/stand
both services: direct congregation as to what is expected/appropriate
  Be intentional and clear
Children’s story singing the song is well liked.
Powerpoint: prepare in advance of sabbath
  check that it is legible

“The Awesome Obligation”

Speaker: Pastor Benji Ferguson

Scripture: 1 Corinthians 9:16-18 NIV

“16 For when I preach the gospel, I cannot boast, since I am compelled to preach. Woe to me if I do not preach the gospel! 17 If I preach voluntarily, I have a reward; if not voluntarily, I am simply discharging the trust committed to me. 18 What then is my reward? Just this: that in preaching the gospel I may offer it free of charge, and so not make full use of my rights as a preacher of the gospel.”
