Pre-K Sabbath School Class

By: Jenny Borowiak

If you happen to peek into the Pre-K Sabbath School Class any Sabbath morning, you will be greeted by the exuberant, smiling faces of the 3-5 year olds in our church community.  Our room is a happy place!  You will hear ringing bells, clanging cymbals and clapping hands.  Our room is a noisy place!  You will hear scripture and Bible stories come alive.  Our room is a learning place!  You will see animals entering Noah’s ark and baby Moses being rocked in a basket.  Our room is a busy place!  You will observe little hands draw, cut, and paste as they make art that reinforces our Bible lesson.  Our room is a creative place!

Each week it is our mission to serve God, your children and our church by focusing on grace (Jesus loves us), community (we love each other), worship (we love Jesus) and service (we love others).  We strive to teach Biblical-based lessons and the values that come directly from God’s word.  We endeavor to nurture our little ones as they grow to love Christ and serve Him faithfully.  We love God and we love your children – thank you for entrusting them to our care each Sabbath morning.

Adult Sabbath School Class, Church Hallway

By: Jack Dougan and Ivan Chavez

Our Sabbath School meets in the hallway that serves as the foyer for the church. While the hall is a busy place, we enjoy the energy and activity, and the informality it drives. The
location works well for visitors, parents who may have children in Sabbath School, regular attendees, or even people who may not want to brave the weather to go over to the school. While we have a core group of regular attendees, every week we have new participants from a wide range of backgrounds who invigorate our class with their thinking and perspectives. Our class doesn’t follow the SDA lesson quarterly, but we take one book of the Bible at a time and spend however much time it takes for us to discuss and digest it. Over the last year we have been focused on the writings of Paul, and attempting to follow the chronological order in which they were written. We recently finished Galations and are now working our way through Ephesians. As we have been studying, we have enjoyed reading the letters to each of the churches, and understanding how Paul has uniquely shaped the gospel message for each church based on their background and the issues they are facing. We look for contemporary
applications of the Bible in all our studies, with an unstated goal of leaving Sabbath School each week with new understandings to apply in our lives over the next week. As an example of this, over the last several weeks we have been contemplating what Paul would write to the Minnetonka SDA church if he were writing an inspired letter to us today. If you are interested in our class, please join us for a week or two to try it out.
